Meat the Stars - Part 3

Blasting onto the scene like a tiny vintage fireball, please welcome...
It is said Nick Cave once got so gravelly and intense that he actually traveled back in time and spent an entire year in 1920s Hollywood. Whilst there, he embarked upon a torrid but ultimately doomed affair with silent movie starlet Clara Bow - and it would seem safe to conclude that Laura is their anachronistic lovechild.

Linguistics expert, artists' muse and bohemian reprobate, Laura takes inspiration from acting legends such as the late great Oliver Reed. While her attempts to emulate his fine moustache have so far proved unsuccessful, Laura more than makes up for it with her drinking talent and acting prowess.

Laura will be playing the role of anthropologist and illicit meat-fancier Shelley Jackson.

For that special kind of melancholy...

Hello! To celebrate the new year and the Prime Cuts facebook page getting over 100 likes (!), I can now give you a sneak preview of some of the exciting prop design that's been going on behind the scenes!

As you may know, our story features a lonely butcher by the name of Alan - and this is his drink of choice, as advertised in the pages of Meat Marketing Monthly magazine:

I trust you will join me in raising a glass to a fabulous 2012. Cheers!

Meat the Stars - Part Two

Next up we have the youngest and yet most sensible member of our cast...
Despite having the same surname as our leading man, and playing his on-screen son, Fred is in fact my son and not Alex Taylor's. Or at least that's what his mother tells me.

Fred has spent many years painstakingly researching his role as a teenager who finds his father quite embarrassing and really isn't that bothered about anything apart from handheld electronics. To the casual observer it might appear that this was his actual personality - but luckily I know it's just method acting born from Fred's incredible dedication to the project.

Oh, and in case you're wondering - his hair just does that.

Fred will be playing the role of Alan Allen Jr.

Meet the Stars - Part One

As you may be aware, in order to make a film you need at least one actor. And we've got four! That's three more than is strictly necessary. We're really pushing the boat out here.

So, over the next few posts I will introduce you to our glittering stars-of-tomorrow, starting today with...
Alex pursued a career in acting for many years, working on stage and in television, before giving it all up to become an excellent musician instead. But now he's back - and the wilderness years have only served to sharpen his raw hunger for thespianism!

He is ridiculously multi-talented and was probably even good at P.E, but strangely enough he is not annoying despite this. More importantly, as you can see from the photo he has a self-illuminating face, which is very handy in low-light situations.

Alex will be playing the role of Alan Allen, Master Butcher.

Wine Vs. Acting

As a firm believer in self-improvement through alcohol consumption, I decided to ply my actors with wine at our third rehearsal on Tuesday evening to see what effect it would have on their performance.

Following complex statistical analysis, I can now announce the results of this important research, neatly summed up in the graph below:

I will of course be making these findings available to RADA and the RSC in due course.

Highbrow Pictures Welcomes You!

Hello and welcome to the Highbrow Pictures International blog!

Highbrow Pictures started life as a fictional production company on a poster I made for a fictional B-movie called Talibannosaurus Rex

But now we're making a real film! Prime Cuts is currently in the early stages of production and I will be keeping an exciting and action-packed record of our progress here.

So first off, a little bit about the film:

Prime Cuts is a romantic-black-comedy short about Alan Allen - a lonely butcher unlucky in love.

When a beautiful young woman named Shelley comes looking for some illicit meat, it seems his luck may have changed - but Shelley is about to marry Duncan, the running-obsessed owner of the vegan wholefood shop across the street.

Can Shelley resist Alan's meaty allure? Will Duncan stop training long enough to notice?

And just how far will Alan go, for love...?

You'll have to wait until 2012 to find out! But in the meantime subscribe to the blog, follow me on twitter, or like our page on facebook to keep up to date with our endeavors!
